The FAB&PP Poem of the Month for March 2007

the jaw conspires with the
day’s routine
the unmedicated night gives way
to the morning and new distress

variations on the theme of late
middle age
and inglorious rage against
time used up

wondering as he slips his way along
the february ice
if the distraction isn’t better than
contemplation and maybe

the cacophany of aches should be
his boon companion
preferable to the ultimate
anesthesia
