The FAB&PP Poem of the Month for January 2008

coincidence of music
like the fabled
                     monkeys
you cram enough into
the disc and mix
at random
you get Mildaur
                        Nilsson
and a slow
tune by Little Feat
Nick Drake
surfacing into
Paul Simon
and then the
string of
underwater reverie
gives way
               to
Bathsheba Smiling
and the return
of rock 'n roll

in the forever
of december's
thin twilight
picking out
the poem
to write

or this
(or that)
which
         [actually]
happened
forever
won't change
                   anymore
except in
story-telling
                  and
the repetition
of remembrance

mechanisms of
recollection
                 and
disposal
night-tossing
daydreams
[but all he could hear
in the morning
were his teeth (within)
bouncing along
with the
ride
and all he
could re-
member
was
re-reading the book
written in
              snatches
grasping
