The FAB&PP Poem of the Month November Special 2008

1.

through Italy

dragging around time
and it's baggage
and ours
                like
weights or
                   invisible
haunts

wings
at the ready
making
these marks
    [and others}

today's lessons
recorded for
later
study
filed
for tomorrows'
travellers
                 to take
their measure

2.

through Italy

recognizing
    [in every
     turn on every
     hillside grazed
     or scoured
     or settled and
     lost or won and
     abandoned]

time

in the skull
grinning from
the excavation's
corner
            a
greeting between
accordian layers
of now
and yesterdays'

forever
