The FAB&PP February Specials for 2011

Two Poems for February

#1

in 1968
it was like
he knew
and we knew
listening that
it would be just
like that

a momento mori
for twenty
somethings
who were
               then
too
young to
have

old friends

still with
us even
in our heads

and forty
four years later

(still
with us) how did
                         the music
know what
the words were

saying

know what we
know now under
the waxing
winter moon

comemero
juventas

#2

the captain's
tubes
are dry
     [capped
     at last]

the images stacked

and taped
together

the final bulb
squeezed

thud-like noises
     from the past
     fading

[opaque becomes
transparent]

atomized
               into the
future
