IS THE KING STILL DEAD?
were there christ impersonators
in palestine
wearing out-of-date
robes and
old-fashioned hair
handing out
stale
loaves and fishes
were there moses look-alikes in
egypt
casting their staffs about and walking
through the
waters
buddha-buskers on the sub-continent
looking for a free meal to
skip
did they book conventions and birthday parties
did little kids
think they were real
did grown-ups wonder if they could really
make a
living like that
