The FAB&PP Poem of the Month for May 2020
The Resurrection of Jacobinia Carnea
Judy's
split-leaf
started it all
surviving to
this
day
reincarnated
repotted
rerooted
alive
and
bending
in the window
there followed
assorted
begonias and
impatiens and
less
likely
greenery
[grass
for
the cats]
and then that
market
day
in Cincinnati
the
Brazilian
Plum "not
suited for indoors"
it held on
and
blossomed and lived
through three moves
and many names
but
finally passed
on
wilted and
unwatered
in an
empty
home
[alone]
[alas]
but
now
found and proud
again my
faithful
companion
perking up
after
its journey and
ready to stay as
long as i can
keep
it
