The FAB&PP Poem of the Month for May 2022
spontaneous poetry is not always the best
resting
watching
the rabbits
(they're watching
the squirrels)
while
the
robin does a zig
zag hop through
the yard keeping his
eye
on
me all the while
the white lilacs begin
to bloom
and
finally
the wisteria climbs
the
porch post
i should trim
my nails and pick up
my
guitar
or lay back and tap
my phone goodbye
listen
to the flag
fluttering in the wind
and the trees
swaying
(strangely silent)
instead i hunch
over
this
recording
nothing waiting for
nothing
scrunching
up the winter and
neatly stacking
today's
receipts
(the cardinals arrived
too late to
supervise)
